UNICEF announced Thursday that 25 Iraqi children were killed in 2021 as a result of an explosion of explosive remnants.
UNICEF stated in its report:
Last week, four children were killed and two others were injured in an explosion in two parts of Iraq, while in 2021, 52 Iraqi children were killed and 73 were injured in an explosion of explosives and ammunition.
According to Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper, UNICEF also stressed in its report the need to intensify efforts to counter the effects of these explosives. Unexploded ordnance and bombs are one of the biggest challenges facing Iraqi authorities in repatriating refugees to liberated areas, especially in the two provinces of Ninawa and Kirkuk.
