Thursday, 17 February 2022 (YJC)_ During a meeting with the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Syria, the Iranian ambassador to Damascus said that the lifting of sanctions against Syria would help resolve the crisis politically.
The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus, Mehdi Sobhani, and the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Syria, Gir Pederson, met in Damascus this Wednesday evening to discuss and exchange views.
During the meeting, which took place at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus, the latest political situation related to the Syrian crisis and the political settlement process were discussed.
During the meeting, Sobhani emphasized the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Syria and called for the withdrawal of foreign troops who are illegally present in Syria.
He also stressed that the lifting of sanctions against Syria will help resolve the Syrian crisis politically.
During the meeting, Pederson briefed the Iranian ambassador on his talks with Syrian officials.
