Friday, 11 March 2022 (YJC)_ A spokesman for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, who acknowledged last January that his claim about the Yemeni army's weapons depot was false, claimed that Saudi forces had released two Americans from Sanaa prisons.

Riyadh's claim about the release of two Americans from Sanaa prisonsThe Saudi Ministry of Defense claimed this morning (Friday) that its forces had carried out a security operation in Yemen at the request of the United States.

Turki al-Maliki, a spokesman for the Saudi Defense Ministry and the Saudi coalition, claimed that they had been able to release two American citizens detained in Sanaa as part of a strong partnership between the Saudi government and the United States in the framework of joint military cooperation and security coordination.

Al-Maliki, who had previously denied allegations that the Yemeni army's weapons depot had been denied, added without mentioning the names of the two individuals who had been mistreated in Sanaa and had their passports confiscated. .

He also claimed that the two men were transferred from Sanaa to Aden and then to Saudi Arabia, after which they were handed over to US officials.

Al-Maliki claims that in January of this year, he released a video of an arms depot claiming that Riyadh forces had been able to identify a depot belonging to the Yemeni army. But only a few hours later, the media revealed that the video was an excerpt from an American movie. The revelation prompted a Saudi coalition spokesman to officially admit the video was fabricated at a news conference in Yemen.

A spokesman for the Saudi coalition was forced to confirm that the video was fake at a press conference with the governor of Yemen's Shabwa province. However, he claimed: "We are committed to the credibility and transparency of operational and media events. "We got the controversial video by mistake, and that was part of a marginal mistake in interacting with the sources."

A day after the press conference, the media also reported that at the press conference, the coalition spokesman, in addition to acknowledging that the video was fake, spoke of a hypothetical operation to avoid answering reporters' questions.
