Friday, 11 March 2022 (YJC)_ NATO Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has warned that the conflict in Ukraine should not lead to a war between Russia and the military alliance.

Stoltenberg: The Ukrainian conflict should not be drawn to NATONATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg stressed on Friday that NATO should not be drawn into the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

The NATO secretary general also said that "Vladimir Putin" must withdraw his troops from Ukraine as soon as possible, otherwise he will face new sanctions.

Stoltenberg added that the conflict in Ukraine should not turn into a war between NATO and Russia because the casualties of such a war would be innumerable.

The NATO Secretary General further called on the European allies of the alliance to increase their defense budgets.

Stoltenberg's warnings come as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelinsky insists Western countries impose a no-fly zone over Ukraine or send fighter jets to Ukraine instead.

The Secretary-General of NATO, the US Government and other allies have explicitly rejected Zelensky's proposal, describing it as a factor in NATO's involvement in the conflict.

On the other hand, the United States has opposed sending its fighter jets to Poland to send Polish MiG fighters to Ukraine.

Forty-three Republican senators today (Friday) called on Joe Biden to work with Poland to provide fighters and air defense systems to Ukraine.

On Thursday night, White House spokeswoman Jennifer Saki claimed that Washington was opposed to sending Polish fighter jets to Ukraine.
The US assessment was based on how to prevent a world war.
