Saturday, 12 March 2022 (YJC)_ After the consultations of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the representatives of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the signing ceremony of the minutes of the consultations between Iran and the member countries of this organization was held in "Tashkent".
Following the consultations of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the representatives of the SCO member states, the signing ceremony of the results of the consultations between Iran and the SCO member states was held in Tashkent.
In this document, the Iranian side expressed its desire to complete the process of obtaining the status of a permanent member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Narov, heads of permanent institutions of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, national coordinators of member states, as well as heads and representatives of Chinese and Iranian diplomatic missions in Tashkent.
The signing of the minutes was a practical step towards implementing a decision taken last year by the leaders of the eight countries at the SCO summit in Dushanbe to begin the process of admitting Iran to the organization.
This document indicates the readiness of the Iranian side to join the Organization and to observe the goals and principles of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Charter, international treaties and documents adopted in the Organization to help develop friendships and mutually beneficial cooperation with member countries.
The ceremony was attended by Hamid Nirabadi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Uzbekistan. He thanked the member states for their support in accepting our country in the organization, and said that multilateralism, collective cooperation and the fight against terrorism are the distinctive features of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The Ambassador of our country in Tashkent, stating that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an "Eastern Club", said: "The basis of cooperation in this organization is to use the vast capacities of the organization in a friendly framework and with consensus."
The next step in this process will be the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the sidelines of the forthcoming SCO summit in Samarkand in September this year. After that, the leaders of the member states will approve the granting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization membership status to our country.
