According to the RIA Novosti website, the International Atomic Energy Agency had previously reported that Ukrainian engineers had begun repairing damaged power lines to restore the external power supply of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.

The organization said in a statement:
Regarding the condition of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, Ukraine says that efforts are underway to repair the damaged transmission lines, but the external power supply has been cut off since March 9. It should be noted that, as mentioned in the Ukrainian section, diesel generators continue to provide support for security-related systems.

The IAEA also said in another part of the statement that Russia had denied allegations of plans to take full control of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

The Russian side denies Ukraine's claims about Russia's alleged plans to take full control of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

According to the statement, Ukraine has informed the International Atomic Energy Agency that Russia intends to take full and permanent control of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.

The international organization stressed:
This issue was later rejected by the Russian Federation.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Russian and Ukrainian forces had agreed to jointly protect the safety of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
