Thursday, 17 March 2022 (YJC)_ Diplomatic sources at the United Nations say a Security Council vote on a draft Russian humanitarian resolution on Ukraine will be held on Friday.
Following the efforts of Western countries to intervene in the Ukraine crisis and the implementation of anti-Russian plans, the Security Council is scheduled to meet again in this regard.
The United States and four other countries have called for an emergency Security Council meeting to review the situation in Ukraine on Thursday, UN diplomats said.
A source in the Security Council told RIA Novosti: "The Security Council will vote on a draft Russian humanitarian resolution on Ukraine on Friday.
Earlier, the head of the UN Security Council said that the vote was scheduled for Thursday, but members of the council are still consulting on the text of the draft.
On Tuesday, the Russian Federation submitted a draft resolution to the Security Council calling for a "negotiated ceasefire by the Security Council to ensure the immediate, safe, voluntary and unimpeded exit of all civilians."
According to the report, at the same time, the Security Council emphasizes the need for the parties to reach an agreement on humanitarian sanctions for this purpose.
The text, copied by RIA Novosti, also states that the UN Security Council is required to fully protect civilians, including humanitarian personnel, and those in vulnerable situations, including women and children.
Earlier, White House spokeswoman Jennifer Sacchi reiterated Kiev's call for a no-fly zone over Ukraine, as well as some European countries' decision to provide fighter jets.
