Friday, 18 March 2022 (YJC)_ The US president intends to warn Beijing by telephone about his military support for Russia in the conflict with Ukraine in a phone call with his Chinese counterpart.
In line with its anti-Russian and anti-Chinese policies, the US government has warned Beijing that supporting Moscow's operation against Ukraine will have consequences.
According to Reuters, US President Joe Biden is scheduled to speak by telephone with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on Friday about the Ukraine crisis and the possibility of Beijing supporting Russia in the war.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced the news Thursday evening:
Biden will make it clear tomorrow that China will be responsible for any action it takes to support Russian aggression, and we will not hesitate to impose costs.
Blinken said China has a responsibility to use its influence with Russian President Vladimir Putin to defend international law, but Beijing appears to be moving in the opposite direction.
According to Reuters, he claimed:
We are concerned that they are considering direct assistance to Russia by providing military equipment for use in Ukraine.
According to the report, the US Secretary of State did not elaborate further on how China's support for Russia might cost Beijing, and there is no evidence yet that Washington is willing to help Russia.
Earlier, China's representative to the United Nations criticized the escalation of Western sanctions against Russia under the pretext of Ukraine, saying that the escalation of sanctions would exacerbate the food and energy crisis.
