During the talks between the Foreign Ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Lebanon in Beirut on Thursday, April 25, the expansion of cooperation between the two countries, regional developments and the international situation were discussed.
Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in this meeting, emphasizing the continuation of the Islamic Republic of Iran's support for the Lebanese government and people, stated:
We hope that the expansion of Iran's economic cooperation and trade with Lebanon will help the country overcome the current difficult situation.
He described Lebanon as a country of democracy and elections, adding:
Lebanese society is cheerful in holding elections. This gives a special feature to this country, and we believe that with the tact and tact of the various parties in Lebanon, we will see a good election in order to strengthen security and stability in this country.
Our Foreign Minister described the regional developments, including in Yemen, as complex and, referring to the intensification of migration from Afghanistan to the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of attention of the international community in this regard.
Amir-Abdollahian reiterated the Islamic Republic of Iran's explicit opposition to the war to resolve disputes and added:
We believe that political solutions should be at the center of efforts to resolve disputes.
Referring to the importance of relations between the two countries and expressing optimism about the outcome of the Vienna talks, Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bouhabib expressed hope that relations between the two countries of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Lebanon would expand further.
While confirming the economic problems facing his country, Buhabib assessed the upcoming elections as important for Lebanese inside and outside the country and added:
We expect the international community to accompany Lebanon in holding the elections.
