The White House announced Saturday morning that US President Joe Biden will sign a law ending oil imports from Russia.
According to the White House, Biden will also sign a law suspending normal trade with Russia and Belarus.
The two laws ending Russia's oil imports and suspending normal trade relations with Russia and Belarus will come into force after Biden signs it.
The United States recently announced sanctions against Russia's largest bank, imposing sanctions on family members of the president and foreign minister.
The White House said in a statement Wednesday evening that the United States, in coordination with its allies in the G7 and the European Union, had stepped up pressure on Russia over the Ukraine crisis and imposed new sanctions on Moscow.
