Thursday, 5 May 2022 (YJC)_ A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed the need to resolve the Ukraine issue through diplomacy.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said today (Thursday) that Beijing hopes that the conflict in Ukraine will end as soon as possible and calls on all parties involved to resolve it diplomatically.
According to the Russian news agency "Tass", he said in a press conference:
China will continue to play a constructive role in the Ukraine issue. We hope that this conflict will end as soon as possible. We also hope that all parties concerned will refrain from adding fuel to the fire of the Ukraine issue and encourage the parties concerned to sit down at the negotiating table and resolve the issue through diplomacy.
The Chinese diplomat stressed that China's position on the Ukraine issue is firm and clear, and the Chinese side has repeatedly stated it.
Earlier, the Chinese embassy in Washington denied US claims about China's role in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. A spokesman for the embassy told reporters:
China's position on the Ukraine issue is neutral, objective and irrevocable.
