Tehran, YJC. High-ranking diplomats from Iran and the US are discussing the anti-Iran sanctions.

In Geneva Monday, delegations from Iran and the United States discussed the ideas to break the deadlock in nuclear talks between Tehran and the P5+1.

The discussions were held at the deputy foreign ministers level and dragged on for over 6 hours.

Abbas Araqchi, Iranian deputy foreign minister and senior nuclear negotiator speaking to reporters on Monday night stated that the meeting covered "extensive discussions on the entire subjects, particularly on the sanctions.”

He explained that the discussions have now become "very detailed”, adding that there exist solutions to some differences, while some others would look like they need more efforts and discussions.

Iranian and American diplomats are scheduled to meet again on Tuesday, while the Iranian team is to hold separate bilateral meetings with other members of the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) in the evening.

On Wednesday, a plenary session will be held, according to Araqchi.

This makes the first round of talks following a decision by the parties to extend for more 7 months a self-imposed deadline for reaching a comprehensive deal on Tehran’s civilian nuclear program.
