Iran's defense and environment sections start cooperation by signing deal

Tehran, YJC. Iran’s Defense Ministry and Environmental Protection Organization (IEPO) have inked a memorandum of understanding to forge closer cooperation in a bid to protect the country’s environment.


The MoU was signed between Head of Environmental Protection Organization Masoumeh Ebtekar and Minister of Defense Brigadier General Hussein Dehqan.

Under the memorandum of understanding, the Defense Ministry will undertake the task of providing technical assistance via its equipment and high-tech products to identify and meet the existing environmental challenges that have created hardships for the country.

The Defense Ministry will furthermore help the Environmental Protection Organization in designing and manufacturing the needful equipment such as fire-fighting machinery, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), guided vessels, portable laboratories, residue management and recycling systems, waste disposal equipment. It will also help in taking aerial and satellite maps using its owned special optical devices.

The Environmental Protection Organization, in turn, has agreed to assist the Defense Ministry in locating the appropriate zones for the transfer of military industries under recognized environmental standards. It will also provide the Defense Ministry with personnel expert environmental training according to the terms of the agreement.
