Iran, Latin American countries discuss stronger ties

Tehran, YJC. Iran’s Takht Ravanchi on Monday emphasized the significance of expanding relations with Latin American countries.

In a meeting with the ambassadors of Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) member states in Tehran, Deputy Foreign Minister for European and Latin American Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi on Monday highlighted strengthening ties with Latin American countries, especially those sharing views with Iran on foreign policy issues.

The Iranian diplomat pointed to the currently excellent political ties between Iran and ALBA countries, and emphasized the abundant capacities for economic cooperation between the two sides.

Takht Ravanchi also stated that Iran is ready to expand bilateral cooperation with the Latin American countries and offer to them them technical and engineering assistance.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran and the ALBA countries share common views on various subject matters,” the Iranian diplomat stated, adding that the 2 parties can conduct extensive cooperation given the common goals.

Venezuelan ambassador to Iran, who was among the envoys attending the meeting, referred to political pressure from the West as well as economic sanctions imposed on Iran and called them counterproductive.

Ambassadors of Nicaragua, Cuba, and Ecuador in Iran and the political envoy of Bolivian embassy were among other members addressing the meeting.
