Tehran, YJC. Archbishop of Isfahan province and southern parts of Iran Babken Charian has said that Iranian religious minorities live peacefully side by side Maham news reported.
Charian who was speaking to Lura Suleiman, Directing Editor
of the Lebanese National News Agency, provided comments about his 10-year tenure
as the Archbishop of Isfahan province and southern parts of Iran and said "Since
I have come to Iran, many groups and delegations from different countries have
traveled to Iran and visited me.”
"They all mentioned that prior to their trip to Iran, they
used to have wrong ideas about the Islamic Republic, but after their visit
their had realized the truth.”
When foreign delegations visit Iran, they witness that the
Jew, the Assyrian, the Christian and the Muslim live side by side with
kindness, he noted.
He pointed to Iran's churches as being 24 in number and
further explained that 13 of those are situated in Isfahan.
Suleiman, in turn, stated that her visit was made at the
request of the Islamic Republic News Agency’s managing editor.
She said that it had been her first trip to Iran and added "Prior
to this, I had wrong information about Iran. But after I saw the reality, my
attitude toward the country changed.”
The Lebanese Suleiman visited Isfahan’s historical sites on
Thursday and left Iran on Friday afternoon.
During her short trip to Iran, she also met Iran's Minister
of Culture Ali Jannat, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afgham, and a
number of other officials.
