TEHRAN, YJC.-- Israel admits that it has given less than one percent of the seized land in the occupied West Bank to Palestinians in the past three decades.
According to official data, Palestinians
have been given only 0.7 percent of the land in the West Bank. However,
around 38 percent of the land has been allocated to illegal Israeli
settlements, Russia Today reported on Sunday.
The Tel Aviv regime has declared about 325,000 acres of Palestinian
land in the West Bank as its own property, the majority of which is
being used to develop Israeli settlement construction.
Israel has built thousands of settler units in the West Bank and East al-Quds (Jerusalem) since it occupied them in 1967.
The Israeli settlements are considered illegal by much of the
international community. However, defiant Israeli Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu says the settlement construction is part of Tel
Aviv’s policy and will not stop.
Construction of Israeli settlements on occupied Palestinian lands
violates the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prevents an occupying power
from transferring its own population into occupied territory, an act
that could be equal to war crimes that fall under the jurisdiction of
the International Criminal Court.
