TEHRAN – The Iranian Guardian Council spokesman Nejatollah Ebrahimian has announced that February 26, 2016 has been designated as the date for the country’s next parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections.
"A few days ago, the Interior Ministry’s letter proposing the day for the 10th Majils [Parliament] election was sent to the Guardian Council,” Ebrahimian said in interview with Mehr news agency on Wednesday.

He added that although initially two different dates were proposed for the elections, the Guardian Council decided to set the elections dates of the Majlis and the Assembly of Experts on the same day.

The decision has been announced to the Interior Ministry, he said.
