Tehran, YJC. Russian nuclear official has said Iran and Russia have signed an agreement to provide services to Bushehr nuclear power plant.

CEO of Russia’s Rosenergoatom Evgeny Romanov in interview with Rossiya Segodnya (Russia Today) stated that the company has signed a 5-year cooperation agreement with Iran.

The 2 sides have agreed that Rosenergoatom, one of the companies affiliated to Rosatom, will participate in new power plants to be built in Bushehr.

Bushehr power plant has a 1,000 MW nuclear reactor which started generating electricity last year.

Iran's Atomic Energy Organization and the Russian Company Rosatom signed an agreement in 2014 for building the 2nd and 3rd units of the Bushehr Power Plant.

Iran has stressed its right to build more power plants in order to be able to use the clean energy to feed its national electricity grid.

However, the country’s activities are hampered by pressure from Western countries with the alibi that Iran’s nuclear activities serve noon-peaceful purposes, something Iran denies.
