Tehran, YJC. Environmental activists from across the country as well as officials of the Environment Protection Organization met Iran's Supreme Leader on Sunday.
On Sunday Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei urged the
formulation of Iran’s national document on environment, and called for joint
national effort to protect the environment.
"Formulating a national document on environment for the
entire constructional, industrial, trade and refinery projects, reevaluating
the law to criminalize damages done to the environment, and strengthening
indiscriminate supervision are among the most important tools to be used to
protect the environment,” he stressed.
Ayatollah Khamenei also underlined that the issue of
environment protection is not the purview of a specific administration,
individual or political current, but rather a nationwide concern.
He pointed out that the environmental problems, such as dust
storms and air pollution in large cities, could be dealt with through patience
and prudence.
"The experiences of various
countries have proven that many environmental problems can be prevented and
have their solutions each,” the Leader stated.
