Director General of Iran’s Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization (RMTO) Mohammad-Javad Atr-Chian said the country is ready for transit of 15 million tons of goods.
"Iran is now capable of 15 million tons non-oil goods transit given its infrastructure, ports and marine, railroad and road means of transportation,” he said.
He also stressed that Iran’s unique geographical position in terms of transit is an opportunity for developing international transport.
Atr-Chian also emphasized using Iran’s transit position in the post-JCPOA era and said, "We should use facilitation, simplicity, less of Bureaucracy and expense and transit time to increase the level of goods transit in the region.”
Regional countries have been trying to introduce new transit roads, however Iran’s geographical position has made it one of the transit hubs in the region, Atr-Chian said.
