Director of Iran’s Wheat Plan Esmail Esfandiari-Pour said the country would be able to export wheat in the next Iranian calendar year (starting on March 21, 2017).
Iran has managed to obtain self-sufficiency in wheat production by 95 percent this year, he said, adding, "Iran will be able to export wheat next year.”
Iranian Ministry of Agriculture plans to produce 13.500 million tons wheat for next Iranian calendar year.
200 Iranian private companies are making the whole wheat seeds distributed in the country, he said, adding Iran does not rely on foreign seeds.
Iran could export wheat seeds and wheat products next year in case farmers follow technical and engineering methods in cultivation, maintenance and harvest.
