Tehran, YJC. A member of Qom Seminary (Hawzah) Assembly of Teachers and Researchers says that the Assembly would rather Hashemi or Khatami become candidate for presidency.
Hojatoleslam Masoud Adib provided comments on how the
assembly makes decision to approach elections and said "At this time
the Assembly
of Researchers has a preference that Ayatollah Hashemi or Hojatoleslam Khatami
would run for the upcoming elections.”
He pointed out that the Assembly supports the candidacy of one of the two, saying "In case these two gentlemen do not enter the scene, a national figure who attracts consensus from the elite and who would have clear practical ideas in domestic and international affairs is likely to be announced as the Assembly of Researchers’ favorite.”
Adib asserted that Hashemi and Khatami are considered by the Assembly as desirable choices for candidature.
He said "For his closeness to the Supreme Leader, political standing, and the favor that all political wings preserve toward him, Hashemi is an appropriate choice.”
"Khatami also,” Adib added "for his large public favor and for the fact that he would be a guaranteed attraction for votes is the other suitable choice.”
He asserted "Both these guys are among those who care for the country and are trusted by the Revolution and the country’s talents.”
