Tehran, YJC. Mohammadreza Aref has said that he hopes the current year’s denomination paves the way for condonation toward Mousavi and Karoubi.
Mohammadreza Aref, a potential Reform candidate, said on Monday in Sharif University in answer to a question regarding the state of Mousavi and Karoubi "I regard these two gentlemen as great figures of the Revolution. Karoubi used to be a close disciple of Imam, and Mousavi was our wartime Prime Minister. As Vice President I would visit Mousavi time after time and use his consultation. It is a wonder why society cannot appreciate their presence. With this year’s denomination in mind I hope the problem would be resolved.”
A member of the Expedience Discernment Council, Aref pointed to the denomination of the current year by the Supreme Leader, believing an instant of breakthrough to take boldness and courage, and said "This year something extraordinary must happen on the pretext of the presidential elections. I conceive of the elections as a pretext for this bold act. Let us define political breakthrough as it would mean but in relation to the elections.”
Aref believed that the scars of 09 events still smart the society’s flesh, adding "We cannot get stuck in the past. We need optimum participation of the people in the elections since we believe that we are the most popular Revolution.”
He added "Different individuals’ share both before and after the 09 elections must be clarified not for surprising, but for prevention. Therefore we must get past the 09 event so we could witness optimal participation of the people and make up for past electoral issues.”
