TEHRAN, April 24, YJC - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says he is in Athens to take part in the international Forum of Ancient Civilizations in the Greek capital as the representative of the Islamic Republic.

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - "In Athens, to represent Iran at Ancient Civilizations Forum:
Dialogue among Civilizations for a World Against Violence and
Extremism,” Zarif said on his official Twitter account on Sunday.
In
December 2013, the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly voted
to approve Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s initiative known as
"World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE)," which called on all
nations across the globe to denounce violence and extremism.
The
Iranian president had proposed the initiative in his address to the UN
Disarmament Conference in New York on September 25, 2013.
Greece’s
Foreign Ministry will host the international Forum of Ancient
Civilizations in Athens on Monday in a bid to promote cultural heritage
and cooperation between the 10 participating countries, including
Greece, Egypt, Bolivia, India, Iraq, Iran, Italy, Mexico, China and
Peru.
The ten countries represent more than 40 percent of the
world population and are at the center of international political
developments in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa.
The Iranian
foreign minister arrived in Athens on Sunday on a two-day visit to
attend the international forum and hold talks with the country’s senior
officials.
