Tehran, YJC. Iran has a card in sleeve which is likely to change the future world gas market for decades.
Director of the Explorations of the National Oil Company said
that Iran has recently explored a large gas field. "It is estimated that the field
runs from Borazjan to the Minab Fauld and on to the Persian Gulf,” he stated.
Hormoz Qalavand said that the field was found by drilling a
well for the first time in the hydrocarbon layer Zekin, the lower layer of the
Paleozoic.
He stated that the API gravity of the oil drawn from the
field is around 56, adding "Currently, further geological studies and drilling
at least 9 other wells are planned by the Oil Company.”
Qalavand said that due to the isolation of the field, wells
will be drilled in the area gradually.
