Afghan FM calls for increased collaboration to fight terrorism

TEHRAN, May 7, YJC - Iran’s Foreign Minister met with Afghanistan’s president Ashraf Ghani to discuss bilateral, regional, and international issues.

TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Also visiting his counterpart Salaheddin Rabbani, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed the fight against terrorism, saying that there is neither good nor bad terrorism and all of countries must collaborate with each other to fight against terrorism in order for making the boundaries among the countries of the world much safer than ever.


Zarif emphasized on a consensus to be reached upon the issue of water in the two countries border neighborhood noting that solving the problem would be in favor of the two countries.
besides the issue of water, facilitation of Iranian and Afghani nationals’ traveling to the countries was also discussed.

Rabbani, for his part, stressed the increase of collaboration of Iran and Afghanistan in fighting against terrorism, as well as collaboration in economic projects including the completion of Chabahar project and road project.


Mr. Zarif’s visit to Kabul comes at the invitation of his Afghan counterpart Salahuddin Rabbani.

He also traveled to Pakistan on May 3, where he met top officials over a terrorist attack near the Pakistan-Iran border last month, in which 10 Iranian border guards were killed.
