TEHRAN, May 10, YJC - Iraj Masjedi, new Iranian ambassador to Iraq, met with Grand ayatollah Bashir al-Najafi in the holy city of Najaf on Tuesday; they discussed critical issues in the Islamic world as well as upcoming regional conditions.

Grand Ayatollah Bashir al-Najafi, a senior Iraqi cleric, received the new Iranian Ambassador to Iraq on Tuesday, May 9 in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq.
During the meeting, Ayatollah al-Najafi urged unity among Muslim nations in the face of ongoing challenges in the region and stressed introducing the world to genuine Islamic teachings; "the genuine Islam is the one that brings the message of kindness, peace and brotherly coexistence to the world, not the one which is currently being propagated by terrorists and their affiliates. These terrorists are tarnishing the image of Islam and giving it a bad name worldwide. Their attempts are solely targeted at secluding Muslim nations from the rest of the world.
In the end, Mr Iraj Masjedi gave a brief report on his plans as the new Iranian ambassador to Iraq and thanked the Shia scholar for his valuable guidelines.
