TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) -
Iranian FM Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi, in a reaction to Tillerson’s remarks on Iran’s putting an end on its ballistic missile tests, stated that Iran’s missile activities are part of the country’s defense policy and that it strongly purses strengthening its defense power.
Iran, he added, learned from the past bitter experiences of the 8-year imposed war from Saddam and a number of countries in the region that it must relay on its domestic defense power to defend itself against any potential invasion.
He said that Iran is a country that has played the most significant role to provide the region with peace, security, and stability as well as to seriously fight against terrorism, thus has developed its missile power in a framework of deterrence policy to keep the very peace and security and protect itself.
"We continue strengthening our defense policies. The Islamic Republic of Iran never allows any country to decide upon its defense policies” Ghasemi asserted.
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson yesterday called on Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to end the country’s ballistic missile tests in what is Washington’s first reaction to his re-election.
