Iran’s first VP in Turkey for D-8 summit

TEHRAN, October 19 - Iranian First Vice President Esha’aq Jahangiri arrived in Turkey for talks with senior officials of the country and attending the 9th round of D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation summit.

Iran’s first VP in Turkey for D-8 summitTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - He was welcomed by Turkish Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci upon his arrival at Ankara Airport.

“Members of the organization have approved a landscape and roadmap for developing their relations and aim at increasing the volume of economic exchanges to $500 billion,” he said.

Calling Iran and Turkey two ‘key and influential countries’ in the region, he said that bilateral cooperation between the two could be effective to settle regional problems.

Iranian ministers of road and transportation, industry, mine and trade, head of Cultural Heritage Organization, Head of handicraft and Tourism Organization, director of Central Bank of Iran and head of Iran’s Customs Organization are accompanying Jahangiri in the visit.

D-8 is comparised of Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Egypt and Nigeria established in 1997 with the aim of boosting ecobomic ties among the members.
