TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Qassmei condemned the shocking murder, extending condolences to the family of the Iranian national.
“Iranian Foreign Ministry is seriously pursuing the issue to vindicate rights of Iranian citizens as soon as possible through official channels,” he said.
The 25-year Iranian national Bijan Gheisar was shot dead by a US police officer in Virginia.
His family said that he was not carrying any weapon at the time of the shooting.
Iran’s High Council for Human Rights issued a statement on Wednesday, condemning the murder.
“The US administration should be held accountable for this crime,” the statement read.
The council is going to send a letter to the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and UN human rights high commissioner Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein to pursue such clear violation of human rights and deliver a report about it.
The council urged trial and punishment of the police officer.
