TEHRAN, December 7 - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi slammed statement by Persian Gulf Cooperation Council summit held in Kuwait, saying that it is a blatant example of not perceiving realities and priorities of the region correctly.

Iran condemns Persian Gulf Cooperation Council statementTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - “The recent statement demonstrates ignoring realities of the region and priorities in current sensitive circumstances by the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council. It proves the inefficiency of the council suffering internal disagreements and unrealistic policies.”

He also said the council has focused on valueless issues and ignored its humane and Islamic responsibility on Palestine instead of considering main problems of the Islamic World, controversial plan for relocating US embassy to Jerusalem al-Quds and supporting the oppressed people of Palestine.

He added that the council has ignored crimes of Saudi Arabia and its accomplices committed every day against innocent Yemenis and has stood by the criminal and ignored killing of innocent women and children and imposition of hunger and patience against millions of Yemenis.

Qassemi continued that ‘unfounded allegations’ raised in the statement on three Iranian islands of The Greater Tunb, The Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa are ‘blatant interference’ in sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“Raising such forged and unfounded allegations cannot alter historic and legal facts.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always announced its readiness for talks and consultation with members of the council to reduce tension and settle regional problems. It believes that use of force and killing nations as well as resort to foreigners can not lead to settlement of problems.”
