TEHRAN, April 23, YJC - The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) and China signed a agreement for redesigning Arak heavy water reactor in Vienna.
Iran, China sign deal to redesign Arak reactor in ViennaTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - The deal is a turning point in the process of redesigning and modernizing Arak heavy water reactor and an important step in continuous implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
 
Based on the deal, the Chinese side is going to review and verify new design of Arak reactor, accomplished by Iranian experts, in terms of international immunity standards.
 
The basic design of the reactor has been accomplished by Iranian experts in March and copies of documents prepared by Iranian side would be submitted to the Chinese side for the next phase which is quite important.
 
The two sides have been in talks for one year. The negotiations were finalized two weeks ago in Beijing.
 
This contract is a preliminary step for more comprehensive agreements to be concluded for launching the reactor.
