TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) -
"Elements threatening security of the Islamic Republic of Iran and those imposing sanctions on Iran are real losers of the elections,” he noted after casting his ballot in the election on Friday.
Shamkhani said, "Holding secure, organnized and lawful electtions in different parts of the country is a clear indication of might of the Islamic Establishment in establishing security and sustaniable stablity in the country since enemies of the Islamic
Establishment are making continuous efforts to make unrest and create artificial crises in the country.”
He noted that high turnout in the elections reflects the message of solidarity and unity of Iranians in various parts of the world and their will for the country’s excellence.
Iranians are voting in a presidential contest which pits President Hassan Rouhani against a serious challenger, Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi, in what is believed to be a close race.
Some 63,500 polling stations opened at 08:00 local time (0330 GMT) Friday for long lines which had already formed around the country where more than 56 million are eligible to vote.
Voting hours (extended twice) close at 10:00 (1730 GMT), but they will most likely be extended as the country has seen in previous elections, amid expectations of a high turnout.
