TEHRAN, December 6 - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stressed that Jerusalem al-Quds is an inseparable part of Palestine.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - The two sides blasted a decision by US President Donald Trump to announce the recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds as the Israeli “capital” and move Washington’s embassy from Tel Aviv to the occupied city.
Rouhani and Erdogan in a phone call, called on all Islamic and peace-loving countries of the world to stand against this destabilizing and illegal move by Washington.
“We believe that all Islamic countries should take a serious measure against this wrong, illegal, provocative and very dangerous decision in a united way,” Rouhani said.
He also said that the issue of Palestine, Jerusalem al-Quds and confronting wrong moves of Zionist regime are one of the priorities of the Islamic World.
Rouhani added that the region needs stability and security and these illegal moves could create instability in Palestine and the entire region.
Erdoğan, for his part, said the worrisome decision by Trump is because of internal differences in the Islamic World. “The Islamic World should show their unity and oppose to the move.”
He also said that the US move violates the human rights and all decisions of the UN on Jerusalem al-Quds.
Erdoğan said that Turkey as the rotating presidency of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation calls for holding an emergency OIC summit in coming days.
Erdogan said the move would escalate conflicts in the region.
